1880 US Census: Nicholas Shar, age 42 (b. Switzerland; parents b. Switzerland) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Lee Township, Monroe County, Ohio.  The household also included his wife, Elisabeth Shar, age 37 (b. Switzerland; parents b. Switzerland); daughter, Josephine Shar, age 14 (b. OH); son, Ephraim Shar, age 13 (b. OH), son, Benjamin Shar, age 10 (b.  OH); son, Ernest Shar, age 8 (b. OH); son, Edward Shar, age 3 (b. OH); son, Charles Shar, age 1 (b. OH); and Chrisain Brown, age 23 (b. OH; parents b. OH) and employed as a laborer.

h. Allen Schar: Born 19 March 1884 at Sardis, Lee Township, Monroe County, Ohio.  Died 1956.  At age 22 married Carrie M. Rufener (b. Sardis, Lee Twp, Monroe Co., OH), age 22, daughter of John and Mary (Rawsier) Rufener, on 31 July 1906 in Monroe County, Ohio.

 

i. Karl Schar: Born Sardia, Ohio.  At age 25 married Mary E. Fisher (b. Benwood, Monroe Co., OH), age 19, daughter of Philip and Emma (Stiuex) Fisher, on 29 April 1903 in Monroe County, Ohio.

Born 14 May 1868 in Ohio (also seen: b. Washington Co., WV).  Died 24 February 1939, age 71, from complications a cerebral hemorrhage in Milton Township, Monroe County, Ohio; interred Rittman Cemetery, Rittman Township, Wayne County, Ohio.  Employed as a farmer.

 

1900 US Census: Effron Schar, age 33 (b. May 1867 in OH; parents b. Switzerland) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Jackson Township, Monroe County, Ohio.  The household also included his wife of 10 years, Elizabeth Schar, age 29 (b. Feb 1871 in OH; parents b. Switzerland), who had had 6 children, all still alive; son, Homer Schar, age 8 (b. Aug 1891 in OH); daughter, Bertha G. Schar, age 7 (b. Sep 1892 in OH); daughter, Lillie Schar, age 6 (b. Mar 1894 in OH); son, Roy H. Schar, age 4 (b. Jan 1896 in OH); son, Franklin H. Schar, age 3 (b. Mar 1897 in OH); and son, Charley W. Schar, age 6 months (b. Jan 1900 in OH).

Switzerland); daughter, Bertha Schar, age 27 (b. OH; parents b. OH), single and employed as a grade school teacher; daughter, Frona Schar, age 14 (b. OH); and son, Harland Schar, age 7 (b. OH).

 

1930 US Census: Ephraim Schar, age 62 (b. OH; parents b. Switzerland) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Milton Township, Wayne County, Ohio.  He married 1st at age 23.  The household also included his wife, Elizebeth Schar, age 59 (b. OH; parents b. Switzerland), who married 1st at age 20; and son, Harland Schar, age 17 (b. OH; parents b. OH), single, and not employed.

 

1940 US Census: Elizabeth Schar, age 69 (b. OH), widowed, and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Milton Township, Wayne County, Ohio.  She had completed 8th grade, and her residence was valued at $2,000.  The household also included her son, Harlan Schar, age 27 (b. OH) and employed as a laborer in a milk dairy, who had completed 4 years of high school; and daughter-in-law, Doris Schar, age 27 (b. OH), who had completed 4 years of high school.  They all resided in the same house on 1 April 1935.

c. Lillian "Lillie" C. Schar: (SSN: 276-34-4219) Born 8 March 1894 in Jackson Township, Monroe County, Ohio.  Died 4 September 1981 at Mount Vernon City, Knox County, Ohio.  At age 24 married Guy Corder (b. Coshocton Co., OH), age 30, son of Frank and Eva (House) Corder, on 22 May 1918 in Muskingum County, Ohio and had at least the following daughter:

1917 WWI Draft Registration: Homer E. Schar, age 25 (b. 27 Aug 1892 at Sardis, Lee Twp, Monroe Co., OH), single, and employed as a farmer, resided in the household headed by his father at Sardis, Lee Township, Monroe County, Ohio.

 

1920 US Census: Homer Schar, age 28 (b. OH; parents b. OH) and employed as a a mail man for the US Government, was heading a household in Lee Township, Monroe County, Ohio.  The household also included his wife, Grace Schar, age 24 (b. OH; parents b. OH); and daughter, Eveline Schar, age 4 months (b. OH).

 

1930 US Census: Homer Schar, age 38 (b. OH; parents b. OH) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Milton Township, Wayne County, Ohio.  He married 1st at age 26.  The household also included his wife, Grace Schar, age 33 (b. OH; parents b. OH), who married 1st ata age 21; daughter, Evelyn Schar, age 11 (b. OH); daughter, Melba Schar, age 9 (b. OH); son, Forrest Schar, age 7 (b. OH); and daughter, Lovelta Schar, age 3 years and 8 months (b. OH).

 

1940 US Census: Homer Schar, age 48 (b. OH) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Westfield Township, Medina County, Ohio.  He had completed 8th grade.  The household also included his wife, Grace Schar, age 44 (b. OH), who had completed 8th grade; daughter, Melba Schar, age 19 (b. OH) and married, who had completed 2 years of high school; son, Forest Schar, age 17 (b. OH) and single, who had completed 2 years of high school; daughter, Loretta Schar, age 13 (b. OH); and son, Edward Schar, age 8 (b. OH).  They resided in the same township on 1 April 1935.

 

1942 WWII Draft Registration: Homer Ephraim Schar, age 50 (b. Monroe Co., OH) and self employed as a farmer, resided at ½ North Burbank on 76, Harrisville, Medina County, Ohio.  He named his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Frairy, as someone who would always know his address.

e. Edward L. Schar: Born about 1932 at Creston, Medina County, Ohio.  At age 22 married Mary E. Chapman (b. Lodi, Medina Co., OH), age 19, daughter of Clare Fenton and Gertrude Anne (Hunt) Chapman, on 2 September 1953 (license issued same day) in Medina County, Ohio.

Born 1925 at Lodi, Medina County, Ohio; daughter of Charles and Mary (Kemery) Mikesell.  Died .  At age 19 married Forrest Schar, age 21, on 1 April 1944 (license issued same day) in Medina County, Ohio.
