1900 US Census: There was a Charles Shipman, age 40 (b. Jan 1860 in AL; parents b. AL), widowed, and residing as a servant in the household headed by Sam Kindrick, age 58, in Tanyard Banks Township, Pike County, Alabama.  No other Shipmans enumerated nearby.

 

1900 US Census: There was a Charley Shepma, age 37 (b. Oct 1863 in AL; parents b. AL), widowed, and employed as , residing in the household headed by his brother, Allen Shepma, age 39 (b. Oct 1860 in AL; parents b. AL), in Tanyard Banks Township, Pike County, Alabama.  The household also included Allen's wife of 15 years, Salley Shepma, age 28 (b. Jan 1872 in AL; parents b. AL), who had had 7 children, 6 of whom were still alive; daughter, Emor Shepma, age 10 (b. Mar 1890 in AL); son, Charly Shepma, age 8 (b. Mar 1892 in AL); son, Walter Shepma, age 7 (b. Dec 1893 in AL); daughter, Sebie Shepma, age 5 (b. Feb 1895 in AL); son, Fred Shepma, age 3 (b. Apr 1899 in AL); and son, Direk Shepma, age 3 months (b. Feb 1900 in AL).

NC) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Troy Township, Pike County, Alabama.  He had been married twice.  The household also included his wife of 4 years, Ginie Shipman, age 25 (b. AL; parents b. AL), who had been married twice and had had no children; son, Cliff Shipman, age 18 (b. AL); and son, Willie C. Shipman, age 15 (b. AL).

Born 6 May 1890/23 May 1894 in Alabama.  Died 31 August 1966, age 72 at Elba, Coffee County, Alabama; interred there in Evergreen Cemetery.

 

1910 US Census: Cliff Shipman, age 18 (b. AL), resided with his father and step-mother in Troy Township, Pike County, Alabama.

 

1920 US Census: Clif Shipman, age 27 (b. AL; parents b. AL) and employed as a laborer in a saw mill, was heading a household in Wise Mill Township, Coffee County, Alabama.  The household also included his wife, Blessie Shipman, age 27 (b. AL; parents b. PA); son, William Shipman, age 5 (b. AL); and son, Fred Shipman, age 3 years and 10 months (b. AL).

 

1930 US Census: Clifton Shipman, age 40 (b. AL; parents b. AL) and employed as a truckman in the lumber industry, was heading a household on Claxton Street in the City of Elba, Coffee County, Alabama.  He married 1st at age 23.  The household also included his wife, Blessie Shipman, age 39 (b. AL; parents b. AL), who married 1st at age 21; son, William Shipman, age 15 (b. AL) and employed as a laborer in a planning mill; son, Fred Shipman, age 13 (b. AL) and employed as a laborer in a bowling alley; son, John Shipman, age 10 (b. AL); daughter, Esta Shipman, age 7 (b. AL); son, Charlie Shipman, age 5 (b. AL); daughter, Callie Ruth Shipman, age 3 (b. AL); and daughter, Cassie Shipman, age 1 month (b. AL).

 

1940 US Census: Mike Shipman, age 45 (b. AL) and employed as a truck driver for a saw mill, was heading a household in Elba Township, Coffee County, Alabama.  He had completed 6th grade.  The household also included his wife, Ola Shipman, age 40 (b. AL), who had no formal education; daughter, Esther May Shipman, age 17 (b. AL), who had completed 8th grade; son, Charlie Shipman, age 15 (b. AL) and employed as a delivery boy for a retail grocery, who had completed 4th grade; daughter, Ruth Shipman, age 14 (b. AL), who had completed 5th grade; daughter, Cassie Shipman, age 10 (b. AL), who had completed 3rd grade; daughter, Betty Laura Shipman, age 7 (b. AL), who had completed 2nd grade; and son, Allen C. Shipman, age 4 (b. AL).  On 1 April 1935 they resided in the same township.

Born 19/14 December 1925 at Elba, Coffee County, Alabama.  Died 25 February 1982, age 56, from complications of heart disease at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Wilson, Wilson County, North Carolina; interred there in Hamilton Burial Gardens.  In 1948 resided in Santa Ana, Orange County, California.  Resided last at 404 East Vance Street, Wilson, Wilson County, North Carolina.

Born about 1930 in Alabama; daughter of Charlie and Bonnie (Tillis) Donaldson.  Of Alabama.

 

At age 18 Janary Donaldson married (1st) Charlie Shipman, age 22, on 2 August 1948 (license issued same day) at Santa Ana, Orange County, California.

 

1940 US Census: Bishop Flemming, age 38 (b. AL) and employed as a cotton trucker for a cotton mill, was heading a household in Enterprise Township, Coffee County, Alabama.  He had completed 7th grade.  The household also included his wife, Univers Flemming, age 39 (b. AL), who had completed 6th grade; daughter, Earnestine Flemming, age 10 (b. AL); and son, Bishop Flemming, Jr., age 8 (b. AL).  On 1 April 1935 they resided in the same township.  Of interest, the household headed by Addie Lee Flemming (male), age 41 (b. AL) and employed as a cotton trucker for a cotton mill was enumerated directly after him on the next census page.

 

At age 31 Janary (Donaldson) Shipman married (2nd) Bishop Fleming, Jr. (b. abt 1932), age 29, son of Bishop H. and Universy (Pouncey) Fleming, on 30 September 1961 in Enterprise Township, Coffee County, Alabama (also seen: m. Montgomery Co., AL) and had the following son:

 

(1. Regineld Christopher Fleming: Born about 1962.  At age 19 married Cynthia Ann Hunter (b. abt 1962), age 19, daughter of James Lamar and Mary Lois (Andrews) Hunter, on 21 December 1981.

At age 21: Linda (Shipman) Jeter married (2nd) Robert L. Hughes, age 23, son of Moses and Arlena (Journey) Williams, on 22 March 1974.

 

Linda (Shipman)(Jeter) Hughes married (3rd) Rodney Broxton, son of Edward and Morine (Brown) Broxton, on 20 November 1992 in Montgomery County, Alabama (also seen: m. Enterprise, Coffee Co., AL).
