Emigrated from Germany to Berkshire
County, Pennsylvania with his wife prior to the Revolutionary War. In May 1783
brought their family by wagon and canoes from Harrisburg to Lycoming County, Pennsylavania, landing at Walton’s Ferry, a short distance
below Muncy Creek.
Became quite wealthy; acquired about 2000 acres of land and built the 1st
grist and saw mills in Lycoming County, which were destroyed during the Indian
troubles of 1778 – 1779.

Born
1783 at Shoemakerville, Berkshire County, Pennsylvania. Died 17 September 1817 at
Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania. Married William Bramhall,
generation 8 of the Bramhall
Annex. (By one account
Hannah Shoemaker married Henry/Christian Kirk.
Is it possible the Sarah Shoemaker who married William Bramhall was the daughter of Henry Shoemaker, Jr.? If Sarah is Hannah, she would be 40 years
younger than her mother, Barbera – another reason to
think a generation is missing here.)
