Cyrus Shumway married Bridget Clink (b. 1802, d. 1887) on 19 May 1819 at Spring Hill, Bradford County, Pennsylvania and had the following children:

Reuben Tallubah Shumway: Born 23 May 1798 in Steuben County, New York.  Died 10 June 1853 at Spring Hill, Bradford County, Pennsylvania; interred there in Lyon Cemetery.  Married Mary Anna Foster (b. 16 Oct 1796, d. 13 Mar 1865) on 23 May 1819 and resided at Spring Hill.  Reuben and Mary Ann had the following children:

1850 US Census: Hiram Shumway, age 25 (b. PA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household at Springhill, Tuscarora Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  His real estate was valued at $1,600.  The household also included his mother, Catharine Shumway, age 55 (b. NYS); sister, Elizabeth E. Shumway, age 14 (b. NYS); and Marvina Clink, age 5 (b. NYS).  Of interest, the household headed by his brother, Charles Shumway, age 27, was enumerated next door.  Also, the household headed by his uncle, Cyrus Shumway, age 57, was enumerated on the same census page.

 

1860 US Census: Hiram Shumway, age 36 (b. PA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household at Spring Hill, Tuscarora Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  His real estate was valued at $2,500, and his personal property was valued at $800.  The household also included his wife, Sally Shumway, age 30 (b. PA); and daughter, Lettie Shumway, age 2 (b. PA).

 

1870 US Census: Hiram Shumway, age 46 (b. PA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household at Spring Hill, Tuscarora Township, Bradford county, Pennsylvania.  His real estate was valued at $11,000, and his personal property was valued at $600.  The household also included his wife, Sallie E./C. Shumway, age 40 (b. CT); daughter, Lettie Shumway, age 12 (b. PA); son, Martin M. Shumway, age 8 (b. PA); Marcus Picket, age 17 (b. PA) and employed as a farm laborer; and mother, Catherine Shumway, age 72 (b. NYS).

 

1880 US Census: Hiram Shumway, age 56 (b. PA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Tuscarora Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  He was handicapped by a "wrenched shoulder".  The household also included his wife, Sallie E. Shumway, age 50 (b. NYS; parents b. CT); daughter, Lettie E. Shumway, age 22 (b. PA), single, and at home; son, Manville M. Shumway, age 18 (b. PA), single, and employed working on the farm; mother, Catherine Shumway, age 82 (b. NYS) and widowed; and servant, Wm Kissle, age 24 (b. PA), single, and employed as a farm laborer.

 

1900 US Census: Hiram Shumway, age 75 (b. Apr 1825 in PA; parents b. PA), with no occupation recorded, was heading a household in Tuscarora Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  The household also included his wife of 46 years, Sally Shumway, age 70 (b. Nov 1829 in CT; parents b. CT), who had had 2 children, both still alive; and servant, Eunice Everett, age 30 (b. May 1870 in PA; parents b. PA).  Of interest, the household headed by his son, Manville M. Shumway, age 38 (b. Jul 1861 in PA) was enumerated next door.

 

1910 US Census: Hiram Shumway, age 85 (b. PA; father b. NYS; mother b. PA) and not employed, resided in the household headed by his son, Manville M. Shumway, age 49, in Tuscarora Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.

Born November 1829 in Connecticut.  Died 15 July 1901, age 72.  Married Hiram Shumway on 19 September 1853.  Sally’s grandfather may have been Stephen Lyon, who owned the farm originally settled by Reuben Shumway, generation 4, above.

Lettie Elsie Shumway: Born 4 September 1857 at Spring Hill, Tuscarora Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  Died there May 1951, age 93; interred there in Spring Hill Cemetery.  Married Sanford LeRoy Lemon (d. about 1950, age 99) on 18 March 1882 at Auburn Four Corners, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania and had at least the following children: (order uncertain)

Following Gertrude's death, Manville Shumway married (2nd) Nellie Van Nest, daughter of David and Emily A. (?) Van Nest, on 8 April 1903 at Spring Hill, Tuscarora Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania and had a son.
