Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
His real estate was valued at $1,600.
The household also included his mother, Catharine Shumway, age 55 (b.
NYS); sister, Elizabeth E. Shumway, age 14 (b. NYS); and Marvina
Clink, age 5 (b. NYS). Of interest, the
household headed by his brother, Charles Shumway, age 27, was enumerated next

CT); daughter, Lettie E. Shumway, age 22 (b. PA),
single, and at home; son, Manville M. Shumway, age 18 (b. PA), single, and
employed working on the farm; mother, Catherine Shumway, age 82 (b. NYS) and

1900 US Census: Hiram Shumway, age 75 (b. Apr 1825
in PA; parents b. PA), with no occupation recorded, was heading a household in
Tuscarora Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. The household also included his wife of 46
years, Sally Shumway, age 70 (b. Nov 1829 in CT; parents b. CT), who had had 2
children, both still alive; and servant, Eunice Everett, age 30 (b. May 1870 in
PA; parents b. PA). Of interest, the
household headed by his son, Manville M. Shumway, age 38 (b. Jul 1861 in PA) was
enumerated next door.
1910 US Census: Hiram Shumway, age 85 (b. PA; father
b. NYS; mother b. PA) and not employed, resided in the household headed by his
son, Manville M. Shumway, age 49, in Tuscarora Township, Bradford County,
Pennsylvania.

Born November 1829 in Connecticut. Died 15 July 1901, age 72. Married Hiram Shumway on 19 September
1853. Sally’s grandfather may have been
Stephen Lyon, who owned the farm originally settled by Reuben Shumway,
