1880 US Census: Clarence was heading a household in Athens Borough, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.

Born 1844 at Chemung Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania (also seen: b. 31 March 1852 or Wysox, Bradford Co., PA).  Died 10 October 1922 at 1 PM in Pennsylvania;  funeral at her home (41 Pitney Avenue), South Waverly; interred Tioga Point Cemetery.

Born 6 April 1869 in Athens/Sheshequin Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  Died 9 December 1937, age 68, at the home of his daughter, Nellie, at Dundee, Yates County, New York (just west of Seneca Lake); interred Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  Resided at South Waverly, Sheshequin Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  In 1901 was employed as a laborer.  Worked for more than 30 years at the Leigh Railroad Company, retiring as foreman of the Roundhouse, a position he held for 5 years.

Dec 1873 in PA), who had had 6 children, 5 of whom were still alive; daughter, Alta May Smith, age 5 (b. Nov 1894 in PA); son, Guy Smith, age 5 (b. Feb 1895 in PA); daughter, Nellie F. Smith, age 16 (b. PA); daughter, Nellie T. Smith, age 14 (b. PA); daughter, Pauline G. Smith, age 13 (b. PA); son, Isac L. Smith, age 11 (b. PA); son, Claude A. Smith, age 10 (b. PA); son, Rex H. Smith, age 9 (b. PA); father, Clarence L. Smith, age 65 (b. PA; parents b. PA) and employed as a stone mason, who had been married once for 42 years; and mother-in-law, Louie Smith, age 55 (b. PA), widowed, and employed as a machinist for a railroad company, was heading a household at 41 Pitney Street in South Waverly Borough, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  The household also included his daughter, Nell Smith, age 22 (b. PA), divorced, and not employed; son, Claude Smith, age 19 (b. PA), single, and employed as a machinist helper for a railroad company; son, Rex Smith, age 17 (b. PA), single, and employed as a machinist helper for a railroad company; granddaughter, Elizabeth Benjamin, age 1 year and 10 months (b. PA); and grandson, Glen Benjamin, age 4 months (b. PA).

 

Of interest, George W. Smith and Harold Smith are mentioned on the same gravestone as George Mason and Gertrude (Gorsline) Smith in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, Pennsylvania.

(b. 29 Oct 1830 in Bradford Co., PA, d. 1891) and Mercy Ann (Decker) Gorsline (b. abt 1843 in N.Y., d. 1926).  Got sick (convulsions and stroke of paralysis) during child birth on 17 August and died Sunday, 19 August 1906 at South Waverly, Pennsylvania (age 31 years, 8 months, 13 days); Anna and her still born baby boy were interred in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, Pennsylvania.

Rifenbury (photos) and resided at Sayre, Bradford County, Pennsylvania (and apparently later at RD 2 Waverly, N.Y.).  Alta Mae and Marble had the following children:

PA) at 41 Pitney Street in South Waverly Borough, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  The household also included 2 of her brothers, Claude, age 19, and Rex, age 17; her daughter, Elizabeth Benjamin, age 1 year and 10 months (b. PA); and son, Glen Benjamin, age 4 months (b. PA).

NYS) and employed as a laborer for an oil lease, was heading a household on Deer Creek Road in Genesee Township, Allegany County, New York. He was married 1st at age 21.  The household also included his wife, Margrett Vancurran, age 34 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), who was married 1st at age 20; son, David L. Vancurran, age 10 months (b. NYS; parents b. NYS); boarder, Heman Owens, age 83 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), who was married 1st at age 24 and was not employed; brother-in-law, Vincente Osgood, age 32 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), who was married 1st at age 24 and was not employed; sister-in-law, Nellie Osgood, age 33 (b. PA, parents b. NYS) and employed as a housekeeper for a private family, who had completed 2 years of high school; son, Glenn Osgood, age 20 (b. PA) and employed as a laborer on a stone project, who had completed 2 years of high school; daughter, Geraldine Osgood, age 17 (b. PA), who had completed 1 year of high school; and uncle, Ward Smith, age 56 (b. PA) and divorced, with no occupation recorded, who had completed 8th grade.  They all resided in the same house in April 1935.

 

Nellie Fay Smith married (1st) (?) Benjamin of (perhaps) Barton Township, Tioga County, New York and had the following children:

 

(1. Elizabeth (Benjamin) Osgood: Born about February 1918 in Pennsylvania.  Changed surname to Osgood; formally or informally adopted by Victor H. Osgood.  Married Franklin Gelder and in 1963 resided at Phelps, New York.

 

(2. Glynn/Glenn N. (Benjamin) Osgood: Born 13 August 1919 in Pennsylvania.  Died December 1981.  Veteran of World War II; enlisted 3 February 1943 at Rochester, New York.  Changed surname to Osgood; formally or informally adopted by Victor H. Osgood.  Married Elizabeth Simmons.  In 1963 resided at Pen Yan, New York.

 

Nellie and her 1st husband were divorced by January 1920, when she resided with her father and brother on Pitney Street in South Waverly Borough, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  While there she had the following daughter:

(Maloney) Osgood, (interred with Nellie) on 8 March 1922 and resided on Stoll Street in Dundee, New York.  Nellie and Victor had the following children: (order uncertain)

(6. Verne Osgood: Twin.  Died at birth (death certificate records his name as Verne, but cemetery records indicate his name was Vincent); interred Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens Borough, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.

Pauline Smith: (photos) (more info) Born 28 November 1897/98 on Charles Street in Towanda, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  Died Friday, 10 October 1976, age 78 at the Soldiers and Sailors Hospital, Penn Yan, New York (N.E. end of Keuka Lake); interred Hillside Cemetery, Dundee, New York (W. side of Seneca Lake).  Married Stanley Knapp and resided at RD 3, Dundee, New York.  Pauline and Stanley had the following children: (order uncertain)

(2. Beatrice Knapp: Married Gerald Rugg and resided at Penn Yan, New York.

PA) and employed as a machinist helper for the steam railroad, was heading a household at 101 Longway Street in Athens Borough, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  His residence was valued at $1,700 and he married 1st at age 20.  The household also included his wife, Ruth Smith, age 25 (b. PA; father b. PA; mother b. NE) and employed as a feller in a clothing factory, who married 1st at age 15; daughter, Gertrude Smith, age 8 (b. NYS; parents b. PA); and son, Raymond Smith, age 6 (b. Keystone Ave, Sayre) on Wednesday, 17 July 1996, age 67; interred Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  Graduated from Sayre High School, Sayre, Pennsylvania in 1953.  Was employed for 34 years (1958 – 1992) as a clerk in the Sayre Post Office.

Frederick “Fred” Gilbert Smith: Born 26 February 1930 at 41 Pitney Street, South Waverly, Pennsylvania.  Died Saturday, 10 June 1972 at Lexington, Kentucky, age 42 years, 3 months, 2 weeks; interred Lexington Cemetery.  Married Dorothy Jewel Carroll in 1955 in Indiana and had the following children:
