Born 1 May 1838/41 at St. Polycarpe, Vaudreuil Township, Vaudreuil-Soulanges County, Quebec, Canada.  Died 8 September 1911 in Denmark Township, Lewis County, York State.  Immigrated to the US from Canada, via Ogdensburg, New York, in 1863 and became a naturalized citizen of the US on 24 October 1885.

NYS) and employed as a seamstress in a wholesale and retail garment factory, who had completed 6th grade.  On 1 April 1935 they resided at Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.

 

At age 18, while a resident of Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York, Miss Julia LaVigne married, as his 1st wife, Ezra Percy Clement (b. 10 Sep 1889 at Denbigh, Lennox and Abbington Counties, Ontario, Canada, d. 9 Feb 1961, age 71, at Syracuse, Onondaga Co., NY; interred New Bremen Rural Cem., New Bremen, Lewis Co., NY), age 18 and also a resident of Rutland, son of John Martin (b. Canada) and Sarah Maria (Pledger) Clement (b. Canada), on 17 February 1908 (license issued 13 Feb 1908) in Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York and had the following children:

Derosia, age 21 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), who married 1st at age 17; and son, Robert A. Derosia, age 3 years and 5 months (b. OH; parents b. NYS).

Derosia (b. 10 Aug 1899 at Clayton, Jefferson Co., NY, d. 11 Feb 1965 in Columbia Co., FL; interred Oaklawn Cem., Jacksonville, Duval Co., FL), age 26 and a resident of Clayton Township, Jefferson County, New York, son of Albert and Addie (Myers) Derosia, on 1 January 1926 (license issued 29 Dec 1926) in Jefferson County, New York.  Alex was employed as a seaman; included on numerous ship manifests.  Evelyn and Alex had at least the following son:

 

(a) Robert Alex Derosia: Born 27 October 1927 in Ohio.  Died 11 November 1986, age 60, in Duval County, Florida.  Like his father, was employed as a seaman, travelling widely; included on numerous ship manifests.  For reasons that are not clear, while still young, Robert did not reside with a parent.  Since his father's work caused him to be away a lot, it's possible his mother died before 1940.

 

1940 US Census: Richard G. Bertrand, age 24 (b. NYS) and employed as clerk-manager of a restaurant, was heading a household at 864 James Street in the Village of Clayton, Clayton Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He had completed 4 years of high school.  The household also included his wife, Virginia F. Bertrand, age 25 (b. NYS), who had completed 4 years of high school; and cousin, Robert A. Derosia, age 13 (b. OH), who had completed 8th grade.  On 1 April 1935 Richard and Virginia resided in the same township; Robert resided in the City of Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.

 

(2) Woray Ross Clement "Ross": Born 1911 at Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.

 

At age 20 Ross Clement married Arlene Ball (b. Regina, Canada), age 19, daughter of Harold W. and Maude (Stephens) Ball, on 13 May 1931 in Manhattan, New York City, New York.

At age 22, while a resident of Loyston, Union County, Tennessee, Manson Clement married Beulah M. Kesler (b. 22 Sep 1912 at Cape Vincent, Jefferson Co., NY), age 21 and a resident of Chaumont Township, Jefferson County, New York, daughter of Fred and Dora (Mentry) Kesler, on 6 January 1934 (license issued same day) in Lyme Township, Jefferson County, New York and adopted the following son:

Alfred Charles Souva: Born 4 October 1904 at Copenhagen, Lewis County, New York.  Died 19 December 1980 at Dexter, Brownville Township, Jefferson County, New York from complications of lung cancer.  Married Opal Guyette (b. abt 1909 in NYS, d. 1993), daughter of Henry and Edith (Major) Guyette, on 2 November 1946 at Harrisville, Lewis County, New York.

 

c. Harold J. Souva: Born 10 August 1907 at Copenhagen, Lewis County, New York.  Died 26 April 1955 from complications of a cerebral hemorrhage and Brights Disease; interred Black River Cemetery, Black River, Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Married, as her 2nd husband, Iva Mae (Mushtare) Brennan (b. 16 Mar 1912 at St. Regis Falls, Franklin Co., NY, d. 1975 at Watertown, Jefferson County, New York from injuries sustained in an auto accident; interred Black River Cemetery), daughter of Edward T. and Clara Anna (Arquette) Mushtare, on 21 April 1928 at Black River, Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Iva married (1st) Frank Brennan (d. 1972) and had the following daughter:

 

(1. Jean M. (Brennan) Souva: Born 13 December 1929.  Died 9 November 2009 at Crogan, Lewis County, New York.  Married Earl Yousey.

 

Harold J. and Iva Mae (Mushtare) (Brennan) Souva had the following daughter:
