Born about 1875 in New York. Died between 1910 and 1920, perhaps in Minnesota.
1910 US Census: R. Saul (sp) Stager, age 35 (b. NYS;
parents b. NYS) and employed as a guard at a reformatory, was heading a
household at 411 Fifth Avenue South in the City of St. Cloud, Stearns County,
Minnesota. He had been married twice. The household also included his wife of 5
years, Maude Stager, age 34 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), who had been married once
and had had 3 children, all still alive; daughter, Helen Stager, age 3 (b. MN);
daughter, Esther Stager, age 2 (b. MN); and son, Alan Stager, age 1 (b. MN).

1920 US Census: Maude H. Stager, age 44 (b. NYS;
parents b. NYS), widowed, and employed as a bookkeeper for a bank, was heading
a household at 26 Piano Street in the City of Norwich, Chenango County, New
York. The household also included her
daughter, Helen H. Stager, age 13 (b. MN); daughter, Esther Stager, age 12 (b.
MN); son, Alan Stager, age 11 (b. MN); daughter, Eleanor Stager, age 5 (b. MN);
and daughter, Flora Elizabeth Stager, age 4 years and 6 months (b. MN).
1930 US Census: Maud H. Stager, age 55 (b. NYS;
parents b. NYS), widowed, and employed as a bookkeeper for a bank, was heading
a household at 26 Piano Street in the City of Norwich, Chenango County, New
York. Her residence was valued at
$4,000. The household also included her
son, Allen D. Stager, age 21 (b. MN), single, and employed as an accountant for
a wholesale grocery; daughter, Helen H. Stager, age 23 (b. MN), single, and
employed as a stenographer for a wholesale grocery; daughter, Esther L. Stager,
age 22 (b. MN), single, and employed as a stenographer for a bank; daughter,
Eleanor M. Stager, age 16 (b. MN) and single; and daughter, Flora E. Stager,
age 14 (b. MN).
1940 US Census: Maude Stager, age 64 (b. NYS),
married, and employed as a secretary for the Chenango National Bank, was
heading a household at 26 Eaton Avenue, Norwich, Chenango County, New
York. Her real estate was valued at
$2,500, and she had completed 4 years of high school. She resided in the same house on 1 April
1935.

1940 US Census: Donald Smith, age 37 (b. NYS) and
employed as a bookkeeper for Briggs Lumber Company, was heading a household at
33 Elm Street in the City of Norwich, Chenango County, New York. He had completed 4 years of college and
resided in the same house on 1 April 1935.
The household also included his wife, Helen Smith, age 33 (b. MN), who
had completed 4 years of high school and was employed as a stenographer for the
W. H. Dunne Company; and daughter, Diana Jean Smith, age 3 (b. NYS).
Married Donald Smith (b. abt 1903 in NYS) and had
the following daughter:
(1. Diana Jean Smith: Born about 1937 in New York.
b. Esther L. Stager: Born 1 October 1907 in
Minnesota. Died October 1989, age 82, in
New York.
1940 US Census: Russell Carpenter, age 28 (b. NYS)
and employed as a buffer of plumbing equipment, was heading a household at 14
Brown Street in the City of Norwich, Chenango County, New York. He had completed 4 years of high school and
had resided in the same place on 1 April 1935.
The household also included his wife, Ester Carpenter, age 32 (b. MN),
who had completed 4 years of high school and was employed as a bookkeeper for
the county government; daughter, Carol Carpenter, age 5 (b. NYS); son, Gary
Carpenter, age 4 (b. NYS); daughter, Phyllis Carpenter, age 2 (b. NYS); and
servant, Rosalie Kelsey, age 25 (b. SD).
Esther married (1st) Russell Carpenter and had the
following children:

Esther reportedly married (2nd) (?) Dickemann and resided at Norwich, Chenango County, New

c. Alan D. Stager: Born 31 October 1908 in
Minnesota. Died July 1966, age 58, in
Broward County, Florida. (of interest, there was also an Alan Stager who died 25 Jul
1990 and was interred in Mount Hope Cemetery, Norwich, Chenango Co., NY)
1940 US Census: Allan Stager, age 31 (b. NYS) and
employed as a clerk for a retail grocery, was heading a household at 8 Plymouth
Street in the City of Norwich, Chenango County, New York. He had completed 4 years of high school and
resided in the same place on 1 April 1935.
The household also included his wife, Lorince
Stager, age 32 (b. MN), who had completed 4 years of high school; and son, Direk Stager, age 6 (b. NYS).
Alan D. Stager married Lorince
(?) and had the following son:

Fitch Street in the City of Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York. On 1 April 1935 Clark resided in Alleghany
County, New York. The household also
included his wife, Flora Elizabeth Hughes, age 24 (b. MN) and employed as
comptometer for Electical Pereces
(sp), who resided in Norwich, Chenango County, New York on 1 April 1935.
Flora Stager married Clark J. Hughes (b. abt 1916 in
New York.
1 Eleanor Marie Stager:
Born 29
January 1914 at St. Cloud, Stearns County, Minnesota. Died Friday, 24 October
1980 at Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Married Stanley Reynolds Bryant,
descendant # 2 of generation 10 of the Descendands of
Courtney Smith Bryant.
