1870 US Census: James Stockton, age 40 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Clarence Township, Calhoun County, Michigan.  His real estate was valued at $400, and his personal property was valued at $200.  The household also included his wife, Lucy Stockton, age 25 (b. MI); son, William B. Stockton, age 4 (b. MI); son, Louis Stockton, age 2 (b. MI); and daughter, Jane E. Stockton, age 1 month (b. Apr 1870 in MI).

 

1880 US Census: James E. Stockton, age 52 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Big Prairie Township, Newaygo County, Michigan.  The household also included his wife, Lucy A. Stockton, age 37 (b. MI; parents b. England) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Albion Township, Calhoun County, Michigan.  The household also included his wife, Jane Simpers, age 66 (b. England; parents b. England); step-son, Amos Sanders, age 29/24 (b. MI; parents b. England) and employed as a farm hand; daughter-in-law, Susan Sanders, age 21 (b. MI; parents b. MI); granddaughter, Ella Sanders, age 2 (b. MI; parents b. MI); and Emma Peterson, age 13 (b. MI; parents b. NYS).

 

1900 US Census: Amos Sanders, age 47 (b. Sep 1853 in MI; father b. MI; mother b. NYS) and employed as a day laborer, was heading a household in the Village of Howard City, Reynolds Township, Montcalm County, Michigan.  The household also included his wife of 22 years, Susan Sanders, age 42 (b. Feb 1858 in MI; father b. CT; mother b. MI), who had had 3 children, all still alive; daughter, Pearl Sanders, age 13 (b. May 1887 in MI; parents b. MI); son, Guy Sanders, age 11 (b. Aug 1889 in MI; parents b. MI); and son, Archie Sanders, age 2 (b. Jul 1897 in MI; parents b. MI).

 

1910 US Census: Amos Sanders, age 51 (b. MI), widowed, and employed as a laborer doing off jobs, resided in the household headed by his nephew, Frank L. Sanders, age 36 (b. MI) at 603 N. Williams Street in the City of Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan.  The household also included Amos's son, Guy Sanders, age 22 (b. MI) and single, and Frank's wife of 7 years and their 3 children.

 

Susan Stockton married her step-uncle, Amos Sanders/Saunders (b. MI), son of Stephen and Jane (Pryor) Sanders, and perhaps had the following children:

Born 1 June 1845/47 at Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan; daughter of Stephen (b. England) and Jane (Pryor) Sanders (b. England) (note: Jane later married Robert Simpers).  Died 25 February 1914; interred Riveside Cemetery, Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan.  Married (1st) William H. Pryor (b. Ontario Co., NY, d. 1867) in 1862 and had at least the following son:

 

(1. William B./Albertus Pryor: Born 12 July 1865 in Michigan.  Died 12 January 1926 at Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan.  At age 22 married Annie Longberry, age 16, daughter of Owen and J. M. (Hemmiger) Longberry, on 31 December 1887 in Winfield Township, Montcalm County, Michigan.

 

(2. Lewis W. Pryor: Born 21/26 November/October 1867 at Sheridan, Calhoun County, Michigan.  Died 24 August 1937; interred Riverside Cemetery, Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan.

 

1910 US Census: Lewis Pryor, age 40 (b. MI; parents b. MI), single, and employed as a junk dealer, was heading a household at 610 Charles Street in the City of Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan.  The household also included his mother, Lucie A. Pryor, age 65 (b. MI; parents b. England), who had been married twice and had had 1 child, still alive; step-father, Valda Kellogg, age 79 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), who had been married once; boarder, Mary L. Armstrong, age 24 (b. MI; father b. VT; mother b. MI), who had been married once and had had 1 child, still alive; and boarder, Louis Armstrong, age 2 (b. MI; parents b. MI).

 

At age 24 Lucy (Sanders) Pryor married (2nd) James Stockton, age 43, on 8 March 1869 at Homer, Calhoun County, Michigan.  Married (3rd) Valda Kellogg (b. abt 1831 in NYS, d. 1917 in MI) in 1903, though it appears from the 1910 US Census that she used her 1st married name, Lucy Pryor.

 

1860 US Census: Of possible interest, there was a Lucy R. Saunders, age 14 (b. MI) in the household headed by Horton Saunders, age 36 (b. NYS) in Eckford Township, Calhoun County, Michigan.

 

1860 US Census: Of possible interest, Stephen Saunders, age 65 (b. England) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household at Albion (Homer Post Office), Calhoun County, Michigan.  His real estate was valued at $1,400, and his personal property was valued at $450.  The household also included his wife, Jane Saunders, age 46 (b. England); son, George Saunders, age 20 (b. MI) and employed as a farm laborer; daughter, Mary J. Saunders, age 17 (b. MI) and employed as a domestic servant; daughter, Emaline Saunders, age 12 (b. MI); son, Sylvan Saunders, age 10 (b. MI); son, James Saudners, age 8 (b. MI); and son, Amos Saunders, age 6 (b. MI).

 

1900 US Census: Lucy Stockton, age 52 (b. Jun 1847 in MI; parents b. England) and widowed, was heading a household at 702 N. Albion Street in the City of Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan.  She had had 8 children, 6 of whom were still alive.  The household also included her son, Lewis W. Pryor, age 32 (b. 21 Nov 1867 in MI; parents b. MI) and employed as a junk dealer; son, Adelbert Stockton, age 14 (b. Apr 1886 in MI; parents b. MI); and boarder, William T. Fox, age 47 (b. 18 Dec 1852 in MI; parents b. outside the US), married for 26 years, and employed as a salesman.

 

1910 US Census: Lucie A. Pryor, age 65 (b. MI) resided in the household headed by her son, Lewis Pryor, age 40 (b. MI) at Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan.

Burgess on 27 February 1887 at Howard City, Montcalm County, Michigan.  At age 27 married (2nd) Fred R. Burgess "Ricks", age 21, son of Stephen and Jane (Mcnutt) Burgess, on 8 April 1898 at Howard City, Montcalm County, Michigan.

 

(2. Mary E. Stockton: Born 1871 in Iowa.  Died June 1962 in Mecosta County, Michigan; interred Altona Cemetery, Altona, Mecosta County, Michigan.  At age 18 married Ernest J. Bast (b. 13 Jan 1865 in Germany, d. 28 Aug 1933 in Mecosta Co., MI; interred with Mary), age 24, son of Herman/Theo. and Walmena (Boughman) Bast, on 7 December 1889 in Howard Township, Montcalm County, Michigan (also seen: m. Newaygo Co., MI).

 

(3. Annie Jacobs Stockton: Born 1 September 1874 in Newaygo County, Michigan.  Died 3 January 1944 at Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan; interred there in Riverside Cemetery.  At age 16 married (1st) Ezra N. Jacobs (b. 7 Apr 1862, d. 12 Feb 1936; interred Riverside Cem., Albion, MI), age 28, son of Jasper and Phenia/Filema (Perry) Jacobs, on 4 April 1891 at Howard City, Montcalm County, Michigan.  Married (2nd) Fred Baker Slater (b. 16 Apr 1881 in IA, d. 15 Mar 1943; interred Riverside Cem., Albion, MI).

 

(4. James R. Stockton: Born 24 June 1884 in Big Prairie Township, Newaygo County, Michigan.  Died there 29 November 1884, age 5 months and 5 days.

Born 21 May/April 1886 in Big Prairie Township, Newaygo County, Michigan.  Died 6 April 1967 at Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan; interred Riverside Cemetery, Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan.

 

1900 US Census: Adelbert Stockton, age 14 (b. Apr 1886 in MI) resided in the household headed by his widowed mother, Lucy Stockton, age 52 (b. Jun 1847 in MI; parents b. England), who had had 8 children, 6 of whom were still alive.

 

1910 US Census: Delbert Stockton, age 24 (b. MI; parents b. MI) and employed as a laborer for a gale/galv manufacturing company, was boarding in the household headed by Samuel W. Hyde, age 41 (b. MI) at 102 Albion Street in the City of Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan.  He (Delbert) had been married once.  The household also included his wife of 2 years, Blanch Stockton, age 24 (b. MI; parents b. MI), who had been married once and had had 1 child, still alive; and son, Glenn Stockton, age 8 months (b. MI; parents b. MI), as well as members of Samuel's family.

 

1918 WWI Draft Registration: Delbert Ernest Stockton, age 32 (b. 21 May 1886) and employed as a core maker for the Malleable Iron Company, resided with his wife, Blanche Ella Stockton, at 1207 Highland Avenue in the City of Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan.

 

1920 US Census: Delbert Stockton, age 33 (b. MI; father b. CT; mother b. MI) and employed as a core maker in the malleable iron industry, was heading a household at 1207 High land Avenue in Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan.  The household also included his wife, Blanch Stockton, age 33 (b. MI; parents b. MI); son, Glen Stockton, age 10 (b. MI); son, Harold Stockton, age 9 (b. MI); son, Donald Stockton, age 3 years and 9 months (b. MI); and cousin, Guy Sanders, age 32 (b. MI; parents b. MI), single, and employed as a wire worker for a screw works.

 

1930 US Census: Delbert E. Stockton, age 43 (b. MI; father b. CT; mother b. MI) and employed as a coremaker in a foundry, was heading a household at 1207 Highland Avenue in the City of Albion, Albion Township, Calhoun County, Michigan.  He married 1st at age 22.  The household also included his wife, Blanch E. Stockton, age 43 (b. MI; father b. NYS; mother b. MI), who married 1st at age 22; son, Glenn A. Stockton, age 20 (b. MI) and employed as a laborer for a bolt and nut company; son, Harold D. Stockton, age 19 (b. MI); Donald W. Stockton, age 13 (b. MI); daughter, Leola H. Stockton, age 5 (b. MI); sister-in-law, Anna Jacobs, age 55 (b. MI; father b. CT; mother b. MI) and employed as a practical nurse, who married 1st at age 16; and brother-in-law, Ezra Jacobs, age 68 (b. MI) and employed as a farmer, who married 1st at age 28.

 

1940 US Census: Delbert D. Stockton, age 53 (b. MI) and employed as an inspector in an iron foundry, was heading a household at 1207 Highland Avenue in the City of Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan.  He had completed 1 year of high school.  The household also included his wife, Blanch Stockton, age 54 (b. MI), who had completed 2 years of high school; son, Harold Stockton, age 29 (b. MI) and employed as a press operator in an oil furnace? factory, who had completed 8th grade; son, Donald W. Stockton, age 21 (b. MI) and employed as a crater in an oil furnace? factory, who had completed 8th grade; and daughter, Leola H. Stockton, age 15 (b. MI), who had completed 8th grade.  They resided in the same house on 1 April 1935.

 

1942 WWII Draft Registration: Delbert Ernest Stockton, age 55 (b. 21 May 1886 in Newago Co., MI) and employed at the Albion Malleable Iron Company, resided at 1207 Highland Avenue, Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan.  He named Mrs. Anna Slater of that address as someone who would always know his address.

 

2. Wife: Blanche/Blanch Ella Ludlow

 

Born 15 April 1886 at Eaton Rapids, Michigan; daughter of William D. and Lovina/Lavina (Drake) Ludlow.  Died 11 May 1945 at Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan; interred with Delbert.  At age 22, while a resident of Albion, Michigan, Blanche married Delbert E. Stockton, age 22 and also a resident of Albion, on 6 January 1909 (license issued same day) at Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan.

Born 14 August 1909 at Hillsdale, Hillsdale County, Michigan.  Died 6 December 1979, age 70, from complications of cancer at Lansing, Michigan; interred Fairview Cemetery, Tompkins Township, Jackson County, Michigan.

 

1940 US Census: Glenn Stockton, age 30 (b. MI) and employed as an office clerk in an unemployment office, was heading a household at 1118 Francis Street in Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan.  He had completed 4 years of high school.  The household also included his wife, Doris Stockton, age 29 (b. MI), who had completed 4 years of high school.  On 1 April 1935 Glenn resided at Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan, and Doris resided in rural Jackson County, Michigan.

 

2. Wife: Doris W. Richardson

 

Born about 1911 in Michigan; daughter of Harry and Anna (Barton) Richardson.  Died 5 February 1986 at a hospital in Lansing, Michigan; interred with Glenn.
