Born 6 January 1861 on the Wilson
homestead on Road 49 in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York. Died there 22 April 1939; interred
LeRaysville (Sheepfold) Cemetery. In
1833 purchased, developed, and operated a farm on Pleasant Street Road outside
LeRaysville in LeRay Township. About
1890 was described in Child's Business Directory as a farmer near Sterlingville
with 6 cows and a 40-acre wood lot.
1910 US Census: George A., age 48 (b. NYS, as were
his parents), was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New
York, five families away from the Lucy A. Wilber household, where Mable A.
Wilson (age 19 and single) resided. The
household also included his wife of 26 years, Stella L. Wilson (age 45, b. OH,
father b. NYS, mother b. PA, had had 5 children, all still alive); and son,
George A. Wilson (age 9).
2. Wife: Estella/Estelle “Stella” L. Honeywell (photos)
Born 1865 in Ohio; daughter of David Honeywell of
Seneca Falls Township, Seneca County, New York.
Died 1951; interred Sheepfold Cemetery.
Resided at Carthage, Wilna Township, Jefferson County, New York. Married George Wilson on 23 June 1883 at
Carthage. In 1949 resided at Sandy
Creek, Jefferson County.

Died (took his own life) there Friday, 20 December 1935, age 50;
interred Sheepfold Cemetery. Was a
well-known nature writer for various magazines.
Never married.
b. Edward Everett Wilson: (photos) (more info) Born 18 December 1886 at the
Wilson homestead near LeRaysville, Jefferson County, New York. Died 25 January 1949, age 62, at home on
South Main Street in the Village of Black River from complications of two
cerebral hemorrhages (stroke); interred Black River Cemetery. Initially worked at George Sheldon’s store in
Great Bend, then in 1913 moved to Black River to work in the F. D. Hall grocery
store. In 1920 accepted a position with
the Atlantic and Pacific (A&P) Tea Company (a grocery store chain) and
eventually became Manager of the A&P store at 503 State Street, Watertown,
Jefferson County. In 1940 purchased the
Red and White store in the Village of Black River, but was forced by health to
change plans and work as Office Manager for the Crescent Beverage Company in
Watertown. Married Dorathea "Dorothy"/"Dot" Marie Gates (photos) (b. 1885, d. 1969), daughter of
George Emory and Catherine A. (Gormley) Gates of Sterlingville, LeRay Township,
Jefferson County and subsequently resided at 1154 Boyd Street, Watertown. Edward and Dorothy had the following
children:
1910 US Census: Edward E. Wilson, age 23, was
heading a household on Gardner Road in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New
York next door to the Myron P. Gardner household. The household also included his wife of less
than 1 year, Dorothy M. Wilson (age 24); and Dorothy’s mother, Maria C. Gardner
(age 73, widowed, had had 3 children, 1 still alive).
