Born 9 July 1767 at Derby, New Haven County, Connecticut.  Died 11/1 January 1815 in LeRoy Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania (also seen: d. 24 Feb 1820 in LeRoy Twp).  Moved from Connecticut to LeRoy Township about 1798/99 with a Connecticut title for land in Pennsylvania.  Located on the A. E. Kelly farm.  Was a man of considerable prominence in the early days of LeRoy.

Born 4 June 1760 in Derby Township, New Haven County, Connecticut.  Died 24 February 1820/26 in LeRoy Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  Married Isaac Wooster on 30 March 1791 at Oxford (NW of New Haven), New Haven County, Connecticut.

PA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in LeRoy Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  His real estate was valued at $1,200.  The household also included his wife, Fidelia Wooster, age 27 (b. PA); son, Lowell Wooster, age 4 (b. PA); daughter, Maria Wooster, age 2 (b. PA); son, Aften Wooster, age 1 (b. PA); and Walace Holcomb, age 10 (b. PA).

 

Malvin Wooster married Fidelia Holcomb (b. 11 Mar 1823, d. 28 Nov 1854 from complications of typhoid fever; interred with Malvin) and had the following children:

Born 15/17 November 1794 in Oxford Township, New Haven County, Connecticut (by one account was the twin brother of Enos).  Died 18 April 1837 in Waterford Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania.  Moved from Connecticut to Bradford County, Pennsylvania before 1820.

 

1820 US Census: Philo Worster was heading a household in Franklin Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  The household included 3 males under age 10; age l male age 26 to 45; 1 female under age 10; and 1 female age 16 to 26.

 

1830 US Census: Philo Wooster was heading a household in Franklin Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  The household included 1 male under age 5; 1 male age 10 to 15; 1 male age 15 to 20; 1 male age 30 to 40; 1 female under age 5; 1 female age 10 to 15; and 1 female age 20 to 30.

Born 27 July/August 1797 in Dudley Township, Worcester County, Massachusetts; daughter of Jessie and Persis (Stone) Morse (also seen: dau of Jacob and Ruth (Currier) Morse), who moved to LeRoy Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania in 1805.  Died 12 October 1822 in LeRoy Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  Married Philo Wooster on 13 April 1814 in LeRoy Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.

(1. Isaac M. Wooster: (more info) Born 21 July 1815, perhaps in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, where his parents resided and were married (though the 1850 US Census records his birth in CT; subsequent censuses record his birth in PA).  Died Wednesday, 5 September 1883, age 63, at home in the City of New Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut from complications of alcoholism, having fallen, while intoxicated, in the street 2 days before, suffering a concussion and associated brain trauma.  Employed as a brick maker.  It appears 2 of his young children died before 1860, and in 1866 he lost to disease his wife and several children.  Isaac quickly remarried and had more children.

 

1850 US Census: Isaac Worster, age 32 (b. [abt 1818] in CT) and employed as a brick maker, resided, with his family, in a boarding house in Cortlandt Township, Westchester County, New York.  His household also included his wife, Martha J. Worster, age 25 (b. NYS); daughter, Margaretta Worster, age 7 (b. NYS); daughter, Rachel L. Worster, age 4 (b. NYS); and son, Dewit C. Worster, age 6 months (b. abt Feb 1850 in NYS).  Apart from his own family, 37 residents were enumerated in the house.  Of interest, the household headed by Alex H. Doty, age 23 (b. NYS) and employed as a brick maker, was enumerated directly before him on the previous census page [Isaac's wife: Martha Jane (Doty) Wooster, was the sister of Alexander "Alex" Hamilton Doty].

 

1860 US Census: Isaac W.? Wooster, age 46 (b. [abt 1814] in PA) and employed as a brick maker, was heading a household in Brookfield Township (Brookfield Post Office), Worcester County, Massachusetts [just West of Boston].  Several of his neighbors were also employed as brick makers.  The household also included his wife, Martha Wooster, age 35 (b. NYS); daughter, Maggie Wooster, age 17 (b. NYS); daughter, Mary E. Wooster, age 8 (b. NYS); daughter, Martha Wooster, age 6 (b. NYS); Ella Wooster, age 3 (b. NYS); and son, Isaac M. Wooster, age 1 (b. MA).

 

1870 US Census: No clear record found for Isaac Wooster, his 2nd wife, Elizabeth (Terhune) Wooster, or their daughter, Hattie.  It appears Isaac's 12-year old daughter, Ella Wooster, may have resided in the household headed by Orrin Bragg in the City of Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut.

 

1870 US Census: A. Nicholas Terhune, age 57 (b. NJ) and employed as a wood carver, was heading a household in Branford Township (Branford Post Office); New Haven County, Connecticut.  His real estate was valued at $3,000, and his personal property was valued at $500.  The household also included his wife, Sophia Terhune, age 55 (b. NYS); son, R. Nicholas Terhune, age 27 (b. CT) and employed as a wood carver, whose real estate was valued at $1,000; daughter, Jeanette Terhune, age 21 (b. NYS) and employed as a mould maker; son, W. Charles Terhune, age 17 (b. NYS) [perhaps b. 14 Mar 1856 in Manhattan, NYC, NY] and in school; son, B. Augustus Terhune, age 14 (b. NYS) and in school; and son, F. William Terhune, age 11 (b. CT) and in school.

 

1880 US Census: Isaac M. Wooster, age 54 [very legible] (b. abt 1826 in PA; parents b. CT) and employed in a brick kiln, was heading a household in Burlington Borough, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  The household also included his wife, Elisabeth Wooster, age 44 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS); daughter, Hattie Bell Wooster, age 10 (b. CT); son, George L. Wooster, age 7 (b. CT); and son, Frank I./J. Wooster, age 5 (b. CT).

 

1880 US Census: Sophia Terhune, age 65 (b. NYS; parents b. NJ), widowed, and employed keeping house, was heading a household in Branford Township, New Haven County, Connecticut.  The household also included her daughter, Jeanette Terhune, age 25 (b. NYS; father b. NJ; mother b. NYS), single, and at home with consumption; son, Augustus B. Terhune, age 22 (b. NYS; father b. NJ; mother b. NYS), single, and employed in an iron works; and son, William F. Terhune, age 21 (b. CT; father b. NJ; mother b. NYS), single, and employed in an iron works.

 

Isaac Wooster married (1st) Martha Jane Doty (see Pilgrim Edward Doty Society) (b. abt 1825 at Clinton Corners, Clinton Twp, Dutchess Co., NY (a little NW of New Haven, CT), d. 14 Aug 1866, from complications of dysentery, in New Haven Co., CT), daughter of Charles (b. 1789 at Clinton, Dutchess Co., NY) and Margaret (Montross) Doty (b. 1791 at Woodstock, Ulster Co., NY), perhaps about 1842 in New York and had at least the following children:

 

a. Margaretta/Margaret "Maggie" Ann Wooster: (see: Pilgrim Edward Doty Society) Born about 1843 (also seen: b. abt 1835) in Dutchess County, New York.

 

1860 US Census: Maggie Wooster, age 17, resided in the household headed by her father, Isaac W. Wooster, in Brookfield Township (Brookfield Post Office), Worcester County, Massachusetts

 

1870 US Census: No clear record found for John or Margaret Deacon, or their son, George Deacon.

                  

1880 US Census: Margret Deacon, age 35 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), widowed, and employed as a washer woman, was heading a household at 29 Sanford Street in the City of Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut.  The household also included her son, George Deacon, age 12 (b. CT; father b. England; mother b. NYS) and in school.

 

Margaret A. Wooster married (1st) Albert M. Hills (d. 7 Sep 1862 (gravestone: d. 17 Sep 1862); interred Old North Cem., Hartford, Hartford Co., CT) on 9 August 1862 (license issued 24 Jul 1862) in Hartford County, Connecticut.  On 1 November 1862 Margaret A. (Wooster) Hill, his widow, was awarded a pension for his military service during the American Civil War; Albert served as a Private in Company A of the 16th Connecticut Infantry Regiment.

 

At about age 21 Maggie A. (Wooster) Hills married (2nd) John George Deacon (b. abt 1842 in England; arrived in the US 6 Nov 1863; became a naturalized citizen 17 Oct 1868; d. before 1880) on 9 April 1864 (license issued 30 Mar 1864) in Connecticut (also seen: m. abt 1856 at New York City, NY) and had the following children:

 

(1. Frank Deacon: Born 30 August 1866 at Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut.  Perhaps died young; did not reside with his mother in 1880 (abt age 14), but her younger son, George, did.

 

(2. George W. Deacon: Born 29 September 1867/66 at Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut.

 

1900 US Census: George W. Deacon, age 33 (b. Sep 1866 in CT; parents b. CT), widowed, and employed as a railroad engineer, resided as a boarder in the household headed by Annette E. Minor, age 31 (b. Aug 1868 in CT; parents b. CT), married for 7 years (no record of her husband in the household), and employed as privatir? of a boarding house, at 22 Hopkins Street in the City of Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut.  Annette had had no children.  Among others, the household also included Annette's cousin, Lena M. Hills, age 23 (b. Mar 1877 in CT; father b. CT; mother b. MA), single, and employed as a retoucher for a photograph gallery [note: George's mother was Maggie A. (Wooster)(Hills) Deacon].

 

1910 US Census: George W. Deacon, age 42 (b. CT; parents b. CT) and employed as a railroad engineer, was heading a household at 22 Hopkins Street in the City of Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut.  He had been married once [doesn't appear correct].  The household also included his wife of 9 years, Annette Deacon, age 40 (b. CT; parents b. CT), who had been married once [doesn't appear correct] and had had no children.

 

1917 WWI CT Questionnaire: George W. Deacon, age 49 and employed as a locomotive engineer, resided with his wife (his only dependent) at 28 Central Avenue, East Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut.

 

1920 US Census: George W. Deacon, age 52 (b. CT; father b. England; mother b. NYS) and employed as a locomotive engineer for the NYNH&H Railroad Company, was heading a household at 28 Central Avenue in East Hartford Township, Hartford County, Connecticut.  The household also included his wife, Annette Deacon, age 51 (b. CT; parents b. CT).

Wooster, age 53 (b. CT; parents b. Ireland); daughter, Ellen Wooster, age 21 (b. CT; parents b. CT), single, and; and nephew, Walter H. Smith, age 14 (b. CT; parents b. CT).

 

1930 US Census: Kate Wooster, age 61 (b. CT; father b. Irish Free State; mother b. MA), widowed, and employed as a practical nurse for a private family, rented her residence in the household headed by Frank A. Gamble, age 39, at 277 Main Street in Hanford City, Hartford County, Connecticut.

Hermosa Drive, Temple City, Los Angeles County, California.  He designated his wife, Adelene H. Wooster, as someone who will always know his address.

PA; parents b. PA); and son, Stanley Wooster, age 14 (b. PA; parents b. PA).

 

1930 US Census: Lewis L. Wooster, age 44 (b. PA; parents b. PA) and employed as a ticket agent at the [railroad?] Depot, was heading a household at 203 8th Street in the Village of Watkins Glen Township, Dix Township, Schuyler County, New York.  He married 1st at age 17.  The household also included his wife, Jessie Wooster, age 44 (b. PA; parents b. PA), who married 1st at age 17; and son, Harley Wooster, age 7 (b. NY; parents b. PA).

 

1940 US Census: Lewis L. Wooster, age 54 (b. PA) and employed as a watchman for the International Salt Company, was heading a household in the Village of Burdett, Hector Township, Schuyler County, New York.  He had completed 8th grade.  The household also included his wife, Jessie Wooster, age 54 (b. PA), who had completed 8th grade; and son, Harley Wooster, age 17 (b. NYS) and employed as a clerk in a retail store, who had completed 2 years of high school.  They resided in the same township on 1 April 1935.

 

Lewis Wooster married Jessie Lucinda Letts (b. 1885, d. 1972; interred with Lewis) and had the following children:

 

(1. Stanley E. Wooster: Born 1905.  Died 1933; shares a gravestone with his parents in East Canton Cemetery, Canton Borough, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.

 

(2. Harley K. Wooster: Born 1922 in New York.  Name and birth recorded on his parents' gravestone in East Canton Cemetery, Canton Borough, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.

PA); son, Paul E. Wooster, age 8 (b. PA); son, Raymond A. Wooster, age 5 (b. PA); and daughter, Harriet C. Wooster, age 2 months (b. PA).

 

1930 US Census: Glen Wooster, age 51 (b. PA; parents b. PA), widowed, and employed as a laborer, resided in the household headed by Harry L. Barner, age 51 (b. PA; parents b. PA) and employed as a farm laborer, in Wysox Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  No date recorded for when Glen married 1st.

 

1940 US Census: Glen Wooster, age 59 (b. PA), widowed, and employed as a farm laborer, resided in the household headed by Ralls G. Williams, age 79 (b. PA) in Canton Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.

 

1942 WWII Draft Registration: (2 records) (1) Glen Henry Wooster, age 64 (b. 6 Jun 1880 in Bradford Co., PA) and not employed, resided at RFD #1, Monroeton, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  He named his daughter, Mrs. Harriet Biles of RFD #1, Monroeton, Pennsylvania as someone who would always know his address. (2) Glen H. Wooster, age 61 (b. 6 Jun 1880 in LeRoy Township, Bradford Co., PA) resided at Canton RFD #1, East Canton Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania and named his brother, Lawrence Wooster of Canton, Pennsylvania as a person who will always know his address.

Born December 1888 in Pennsylvania; daughter of George Allen (b. 1855, d. 1921)and Henrietta "Etta"/"Ettie" M. (Larcom) Eddy (b. 1866, d. 1950).  Died 27 June 1928, age 39, at Granville Center, Bradford County, Pennsylvania from complications of child birth (three days in labor; needed surgery (a C-section), but there was no one available capable of performing it); interred LeRoy Cemetery.  At age 21 married Glen Wooster, age 30, on 2 July 1910 in Bradford County, Pennsylvania.

 

1930 US Census: Archie G. Wiggins, age 58 (b. PA; parents b. PA) and employed as a telephone operator on a switch board, was heading a household in Franklin Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  He was married 1st at age 52 and his home was valued at $500.  The household also included his wife, Ettie M. Wiggins, age 63 (b. PA; parents b. PA), who was married 1st at age 19; and step-granddaughter, Harriett C. Wooster, age 10 (b. PA; parents b. PA).

 

1940 US Census: Etta M. Wiggins, age 73 (b. PA), widowed, and employed as a switch board operator in a telephone office, was heading a household in Franklin Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  Her residence was valued at $900, and she had completed 8th grade.  The household also included her grandson, Paul E. Wooster, age 28 (b. PA), single, and employed as a laborer on the state highway, who had completed 8th grade; and granddaughter, Harriet C. Wooster, age 20 (b. PA) and single, with no employment recorded, who had completed 8th grade.  Etta and Harriet resided in the same house on 1 April 1935.  Paul resided elsewhere in Bradford County on 1 April 1935.

1940 US Census: Paul E. Wooster, age 28 (b. PA), single, and employed as a laborer on the state highway, resided in the household headed by his grandmother, Etta M. Wiggins, age 73, in Franklin Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  He had completed 8th grade.  The household also included his sister, Harriet C. Wooster, age 20 (b. PA), single, and not employed.

 

1942 WWII Draft Registration: Paul E. Wooster (b. 1912 in PA), single, and employed as a carpenter, registered at Binghamton, Broome County, New York.

 

Paul Wooster married, as her 2nd husband, Ellen (Beechey) Burr, who married (1st) (?) Burr and had the following children:

 

(1. James A. Burr: Born 11 December 1932 in Canton Borough, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  Died 26 October 2010, age 77, in Pennsylvania.  In 1974 resided at Elmira, Chemung County, New York.  Married Joann (?) and had the following son:

1930 US Census: Raymond A. Wooster, age 16 (b. PA; parents b. PA), single, and employed as a farm laborer, resided in the household headed by John Z. Decker, age 31 (b. PA) and employed as a farmer, in Granville Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.

 

1940 US Census: Raymond Wooster, age 26 (b. PA) and employed as a loom cleaner in a silk mill, was heading a household at 16 Mechanic Street in Towanda, Towanda Borough, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  He had completed 7th grade.  The household also included his wife, Nellie Wooster, age 29 (b. PA), who had completed 8th grade; and daughter, Leatha Wooster, age 3 (b. PA).

 

Raymond Wooster married (1st) Nellie A. Wood (b. 4 Jul 1911 at Towanda, Bradford Co., PA, d. there 16 Aug 1948) on 22 October 1934 in Sayre Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania and had the following children:
